Neck liposuction
Neck liposuction can be a useful treatment for those who want to have a slim neck. With liposuction, excess fat is sucked from the neck area to make the person look slimmer. Neck liposuction alone is not enough for those with very loose and sagging skin and may be used in conjunction with neck lift surgery.
Definition
As an adjunct to neck liposuction, the neck lift corrects any sagging skin by removing excess wrinkles, tightening subcutaneous tissue, and suturing the remaining skin. Incisions are made in the lower part of the chin or along the natural wrinkles of the neck, so that the scar is not visible when the wounds heal. Neck lift complements the neck liposuction procedure.
Surgical technique
During neck liposuction, a small incision is made under the chin and a small cannula is inserted into the skin to suck up excess fat deposits. After removing the desired amount of fat, these small incisions are closed with sutures. This method leaves the least scar.
During / after surgery
Neck liposuction should be performed at a reputable clinic. This method is usually outpatient. It is important to avoid putting any pressure on the neck. A limited diet is also needed to help with recovery. The results often become apparent immediately after surgery and complete recovery is seen after a few months.
Scar
One of the advantages of neck liposuction is that it is less invasive and the incisions made to insert a cannula are very small. In addition, they are located in areas of the neck that are easily hidden.
Are the results long-term?
Adipose tissue removed by liposuction is lost forever. This does not mean that new adipose tissue can not grow. Weight gain is likely to jeopardize the results of liposuction when proper diet and regular exercise are neglected. Outcomes may depend on long-term patient weight maintenance.
